Kammerchor »Apollini et Musis«
State Opera Choir members founded the Chamber Choir “Apollini et Musis” in spring of 2006. The ensemble’s name was inspired by an epigraph, placed on the gable portico of the Unter den Linden opera house by music enthusiast King Frederick II, dedicating the opera house to Apollo and the Muses. Julien Salemkour conducted 17 vocalists at the chamber choir’s first concert, and in May 2007, the audience that nearly filled the Apollo Hall at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden to capacity was treated to Gioachino Rossini’s “Petite Messe Solennelle.”
This recently formed chamber choir offers original programming to the public, delving into seldom-heard compositions that reach beyond the standard fare of opera and symphonic choral repertoire. Because of the ensemble’s project-based collaboration with a variety of different conductors, each concert is stamped with its own unique style.
