Tilia-Quartett
Its place of origin, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, provides the Tilia Quartet with its namesake: in the Latin, »tilia« means »linden tree«. Eva Römisch, Andreas Jetzsch, Wolfgang Hinzpeter and Isa von Wedemeyer, four young musicians of the Staatskapelle Berlin, make up this string quartet, which was formed in 2003.
Born near Stuttgart and multiple prizewinner of the »Jugend musiziert« competition, Eva Römisch came to Berlin to study violin with Uwe-Martin Haiberg. She was accepted as a member of the Staatskapelle in 2002 – before even finishing her graduate recital.

After visiting the Spezialschule für Musik in Berlin and the State Music Conservatory in Bozen, Italy, violinist Andreas Jetzsch studied with Joachim Scholz and Michael Mücke in his native Berlin and was prizewinner at the »Musica senza frontier« competition in 1995. He has been a member of the Staatskapelle since 2002.
Born in Hamburg, Wolfgang Hinzpeter studied viola in Hannover with Hatto Beyerle, switching over to the Staatskapelle in 1999 following his first engagement with the Rheinoper (Duisburg Symphony). He has also been a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra since 1998.
The cellist Isa von Wedemeyer was born in Hamburg too. She has been crowned with numerous prizes (for instance the »Jugend musiziert« award, the »Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben« award and the »Deutscher Musikwettbewerb« award) and after studying in Köln and the USA (with Janos Starker) she graduated in Berlin in 2005 with Wolfgang Böttcher. She already joined the Staatskapelle during her studies as she became a member of the Orchesterakademie.
In its brief existence, the Tilia Quartet has already given numerous highly publicized concerts both in Berlin and abroad in addition to invited appearances at international festivals.
