On the occasion of the festivities »25 years rebuilding Semperoper« the Friends and Sponsors - in cooperation with the travel agency Discovery - offered their members the opportunity to follow Daniel Barenboim to Dresden where the musical director of the Staatsoper gave a special concert on February 25th. The journey´s participants enjoyed best weather and a wonderful hotel right beside the Frauenkirche. On the concert evening Daniel Barenboim delighted the Dresden audience in the Semperoper so much with his Chopin program that he had to do six encores.
Those of the members who made use of the offer of an extension of the stay until February 28th, could enjoy an outstanding »Walküre« in the production of Willy Decker. Beside the artistic events in the proper sense the travel group also had the opportunity to go on a guided tour of the Semperoper as well as admire the breathtaking treasures of August the Strong in the Grünes Gewölbe.
