For more than 25 years now, FREUNDE UND FÖRDERER DER STAATSOPER UNTER DEN LINDEN have been providing financial and non-material support to the Staatsoper. The roughly 1,600 members of the sponsors' and supporters' association are an avid public and an active community, making the motto "Art needs joy" come to life. Their contributions and donations benefit the Junge Staatsoper, new opera and concert performances and the Staatskapelle Berlin. As a sign of gratitude the friends can benefit from an exclusive ticket service and have a particularly close link to Staatsoper and its artists.
Thanks to BMW BERLIN the event "Staatsoper for all" has been held right in the centre of the city since 2007. By now more than 40,000 concertgoers gather on Bebelplatz to listen to the open-air performance of the Staatskapelle conducted by Daniel Barenboim. When the reconstruction of the Staatsoper is concluded, an ongoing opera performance will be broadcast live to the square. As part of its corporate commitment to culture, BMW is also a major partner of the opera program for kids and youngsters at the Schiller Theater.
The LIZ MOHN KULTUR- UND MUSIKSTIFTUNG fund has been supporting the Opernstudio of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and thus the training and formation of international talented young singers. Under the direction of conductor, pianist and vocal coach Boris Anifantakis it offers young talented singers the possibility to prepare themselves for an artistically demanding career in opera and musical theatre. The artistic director of the opera studio is Daniel Barenboim who is particularly interested in training promising young singers directly at the opera house and to consistently support their artistic development. Together with the Internationales Opernstudio, the Liz Mohn Kultur- und Musikstiftung also organizes a teddy-bear concert for 3 to 6 year old kids.
M. M. WARBURG & CO and BANKHAUS LÖBBECKE support chamber music. You can listen to members of the Staatskapelle Berlin and international guests during the museum concerts in the Tapestry room of the Bode Museum. The 2015/2016 season will be covering the period from Baroque to modernism, and all the time you will be able to discover interconnections to the objects and works of art in the museum.
The BRITTA LOHAN GEDÄCHTNISSTIFTUNG fund supports the Orchesterakademie with Staatskapelle Berlin particularly in the purchase of new instruments, thus also promoting the development of gifted graduates of conservatories. They participate in concert, opera and ballet performances and receive individual lessons and chamber music tuition by mentors of the Staatskapelle. Furthermore, the fund supports the staging of the premiere of the opera "Mario und der Zauberer" for youngsters from 15 years on.
ISTITUTO ITALIANO DI CULTURA BERLINO
The co-operation with the department of culture of the Italian embassy which had started in 2012 (Nono workshop / framework program for Luigi Nono's Al gran sole carico d’amore) was continued this spring in the "Verdi workshop" on the occasion of the composer's 200th birthday. In 2014 the Institute supported the symposium "Gender, voice and performance in the musical theatre of Salvatore Sciarrino" as part of the INFEKTION! Festival of New Musical Theatre; in 2015 the department of culture enabled the realisation of the series of lectures and performances "Revolution and beauty - in honor of Luigi Nono".
WEIN & VINOS
Since the 2010/2011 season, Staatsoper co-operates with Wein & Vinos, Germany's largest specialized dealer and retailer for high-quality Spanish wine. In addition to its online shop "vinos.de" the company operates six stores in Berlin, providing their excellent wines among others to the artists at the premiere parties.
As part of its initiative "Orchestras of change", under the patronage of Daniel Barenboim, the Staatskapelle Berlin holds charity concerts benefiting environmental projects. The 2015 highlight will be a Schubert late night chamber concert on 12 September with Staatskapelle soloists during the Musikfest Berlin.
Since 2010 we have been co-operating with the HOCHSCHULE FÜR MUSIK HANNS EISLER BERLIN. Students from the musical theatre stage direction department regularly assist in different production sectors of the Staatsoper.
In Berlin the Staatsoper also co-operates with other universities: FREIE UNIVERSITÄT, the HUMBOLDT-UNIVERSITÄT, the HOCHSCHULE DER POPULÄREN KÜNSTE, the TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITÄT and the UNIVERSITÄT DER KÜNSTE.
Furthermore, co-operation has been established with the MOZARTEUM SALZBURG, the KOMISCHE OPER BERLIN and the Institut für Szenische Interpretation von Musik + Theater (ISIM) for the "musical theatre teaching" university course of studies.
