PIANO CONCERT G MAJOR
»LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS«
Maurice Ravel is rightly regarded as one of the »musical magicians« of Classical modernism. In »La Valse«, the French composer conjures up the spirit of dance; in his late piano concerto, jazz sounds are included as well as melodic lines of great breadth. The unbridled power of rhythm, on the other hand, comes to light in Stravinsky’s »Sacre«, a veritable landmark in 20th-century music.
