The young composer Benjamin Attahir, who was born in Toulouse in 1989 and studied under Marc-André Dalbavie, Pierre Boulez, and others, introduces himself with the world premiere of a new violin concerto. It is joined by works of two composers who breathed new life into music in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries: Claude Debussy and Igor Stravinsky, who both introduced unusual timbres and tonal combinations to the orchestra – novel and unprecedented sounds.
