Abonnementkonzert VIII
On 5 and 6 July, Christian Thielemann will not only perform Richard Strauss's orchestral songs, which he particularly admires, in Berlin, but also two symphonic poems by Franz Liszt that are highly significant in terms of aesthetics and music history: Ce qu’on entend sur la montagne, the so-called Bergsymphonie, in which the composer was inspired by a poem by Victor Hugo, Tasso, Lamento e Trionfo, inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Lord Byron. With these works, Franz Liszt established a new, forward-looking genre of orchestral music in the mid-19th century – Christian Thielemann and the Staatskapelle will explore Liszt's more than a dozen symphonic poems, which have only been performed sporadically to date, in the coming years.
Abonnementkonzert VIII concert on 7 July will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. on rbb radio3.
