On the occasion of its 450th jubilee, the Staatskapelle Berlin under its General Music Director Daniel Barenboim embarks on a journey through the history of music. Mendelssohn and Strauss represent two composer-conductors who themselves both worked with orchestras. This is accompanied by a major Beethoven symphony and modern music from the 20th and 21st centuries by Boulez and Widmann, who has dedicated a new composition to the Staatskapelle.
