Les Musiciens du Louvre
Mozart’s Requiem has passed down many puzzles to posterity. The work’s commission and genesis are just as enigmatic as the fact that it remained unfinished. Composed in Mozart’s final, incredibly prolific year of 1791, straight after his operas »The Magic Flute« and »La clemenza di Tito« as well as his clarinet concerto, Mozart displayed here his artistic skill in combining church music traditions with classical style. From it, a work of unique substance and expression has grown – one of Mozart’s true masterpieces.
