Pop-Up-Autokino: Staatsoper goes Wild West

Live broadcast of the premiere of »La fanciulla del West«.

As part of #BMWOPERANEXT, the joint cooperation between the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and BMW, the premiere of Giacomo Puccini's »La fanciulla del West«, can be experienced as a live broadcast in Berlin's first opera pop-up drive-in cinema on the LED screen on the run-up of the former airport building (Site plan (63.01 kB, pdf)).

Test obligation: The official regulations for the event require a same-day negative corona test for participation. In order to reduce waiting times, we recommend having the rapid test carried out in advance at one of the official test centres.

The premiere of the »Wild West« opera, set in California at the time of the Gold Rush, is staged by Lydia Steier, who is making her debut at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden with this production. The musical direction of the Staatskapelle Berlin is in the hands of Sir Antonio Pappano, Musical Director of the Royal Opera House and designated Chief Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. The top-class ensemble of soloists includes Anja Kampe (Minnie) and Marcelo Álvarez (Dick Johnson) as well as Michael Volle (Jack Rance). Further information on the production here.

The access to the run-up of the airport Tempelhof is at gate 10/Tempelhofer Damm across from Peter-Strasser-Weg.

There will be no evening box office. Tickets can be booked online until 4 pm on the day of the event.
