The cultivation of Beethoven’s works by the Berlin Hofkapelle already began in the early 19th century. In the 20th century as the Staatskapelle Berlin, the orchestra’s dedication to the symphonic works of the First Viennese School carried on. Beethoven started a new chapter in symphonic composition with his monumental No. 3, while his No. 4. once again demonstrated his immense competence.
