Liederabend Internationales Opernstudio
Maurice Ravel composed around 40 songs during his lifetime, ranging from early pieces from the 1890s to the 1930s. The highly individual style that Ravel developed and to which he remained committed throughout his career is evident not only in his piano, chamber and orchestral music, but also to a considerable extent in his songs, in which Ravel drew inspiration from a wide variety of musical sources and cultures. In the year of his 150th birthday, a selection from this important group of works will be performed by members of The International Opera Studio, with the support of musicians from the Orchestra Academy and pianist Markus Zugehör – inspired, poetic music by one of the great French composers of the modern era.
