Ottavio Dantone & Accademia Bizantina
Even before Christoph Willibald Gluck wrote his significant reform operas for Vienna and Paris, he composed a one-act piece of music drama in 1754 to a score by the prominent librettist and Viennese court poet Pietro Metastasio: »Le cinesi« (The Chinese Women). An original play within a play unfolds, driven by amorous entanglements and the power of music.
