Christoph Willibald Gluck wrote a staggering number of operatic works. Among them are not only his great Viennese and Parisian reform operas, but also a wealth of other works, such as the one-act »azione teatrale« in the year 1754 with the title »Le Cinesi« (The Chinese Women). The prominent Viennese court poet Pietro Metastasio wrote the libretto and Gluck, the inspired music.
